We are lucky to have two teachers this year : Mr Merrick and Mrs Burrows and are excited to be a part of your learning journey throughout year 3!

Spring Term Topic Map 2025
This term we are reading Stone Age Boy and the Iron Giant.
Step back 15,000 years as a modern boy enters a Stone Age village and learns a few prehistoric tricks of the trade. One day a boy falls down a hole, and an amazing thing happens — when he wakes, he’s in a camp full of people wearing animal skins!
Autumn topic map 2024/25
English
A story about triumph of hope, love and determination, Coming to England is the inspiring true story of Baroness Floella Benjamin. The children will write a letter home describing their adventures in London.

Maths
During the Autumn term the children will be developing their understanding and use of place value, addition and subtraction and multiplication and division.

RE
This half term our unit is Creation and Covenant. The children will learn about who created the world and what it means to say that people are created in God's image. We will looking at poetry and symbolism in Genesis and how symbolic stories helped the people to understand important truths. We will also be looking at how we care for our world and how we can carry this out in our everyday lives.

Science
The children will learn to identify and name bones in the human body and understand the functions of a skeleton. We will also be looking at nutrition and diet and the different food group. We will use these food groups to understand what makes a good balanced diet.
Geography
Why do people live near volcanoes?
We will be looking at the different layers of the Earth, how mountains are formed and locate and name mountain ranges around the world. The children will be able to label a volcano and name the advantages and disadvantages of living near one.
History
The Stone Age, Bronze Age and Iron Age.
During this topic the children will explore the timeline and understand pre-history. They will look at how lives changed over the years and begin to learn about trade during the iron age and why coins were needed.
