    I am Miss Cork and I am the Year 2 teacher, supported by Mrs Aidley. The Year 2 classroom is a calm, happy and inclusive place where we love learning smiley

    Autumn 2025

    English learning

    Our class book in Autumn 1 will be Troll Swap by Leigh Hodgkinson. The children will be writing a fiction story, with a character focus.


    Our class book in Autumn 2 is a non-fiction text on the Great Fire of London by Emma Adams and James Weston Lewis. We will be working towards writing our own fact files about the fire. 

    We use the 'Monster Phonics' programme for teaching Phonics and early reading.

    RE learning

    Autumn 1

    This half-term our unit is 'Creation and Covenant' and we will be learning about the story of Noah and God's promise.  

    Autumn 2

    In our second unit, Prophecy and Promise, we will be learning about Zechariah and John the Baptist, as well as the Annunciation and Birth of Jesus.

    Spring 2026

    English Learning

    Our class book in Spring 1 will be The Dragon Machine. The children will write an adventure story based on the book.

    Our class text in Spring 2 will be Major Glad, Major Dizzy by Jan Oke. The children will write a diary recount. 

    RE learning - Spring 1 - Galilee to Jerusalem

    We will be learning about miracles performed by Jesus. We will also find out about his Apostles and why Jesus needed helpers. The children will be able to retell some parables. 

    Summer 2026

    English Learning

    Our class text in Summer 1 is The Last Wolf by Mini Grey. The children will write a letter in role, persuading characters to save the trees.

     

    Our class text in Summer 2 will be Grandad's Secret Giant by David Litchfield. The children will write a story of their own, with a focus on morals.
