Lost Words Project: Year 4
Year 4 teamed up with the Cheshire Wildlife Trust to take part in their Rediscovering Lost Words programme. This is a project inspired by ‘The Lost Words’ by Robert McFarlane
Year 4 participated in sessions delivered virtually by Cheshire Wildlife Trust Environmental Educators.
Introduction – This was an introduction to the Lost Words book and the reason it exists. The children read some of the poems, discussed some of the words and the session established a base line of natural heritage awareness amongst the children on which to build. The children also received a nature journal, in which recorded all of the species they saw during the project
Exploration The children planned a piece of art, poetry or something quite different if the children wished.
Inspiration – The children created their own video to inspire other children about the Lost Words via performance. This was supported by the Cheshire Wildlife Trust team to celebrate the project to which parents were then invited to find out more about the Lost Words in a separate webinar.
Mrs Green and the Year 4 children really enjoyed completing the project.
